But do we know precisely on what date, in what place (s) and in what way the Roman Aetius and his barbarian allies inflicted this crushing defeat on the savage hordes? Many scholars have attempted to reconstruct this clash of titans that unfolded under the walls of Troyes. The author has produced a synthesis of current work by retaining their most relevant elements and then bringing them together, in order to create a coherent and complete picture.
